The comments are more interesting than the article:

en I was in the army I used a Lee Enfield Mk4 .303 inch standard issue rifle. On Bisley ranges, getting the wind right, we were scoring bulls with 8 out of 10 rounds at 1000 (thousand) yards. We were taught to make every round count. The Mk4 was replaced by the SLR (FN) 7.62mm which proved itself in Borneo. Then the Americanisation came about and a smaller, less powerful, less accurate 'spray it on' plastic weapon arrived requiring closer combat conditions and truck loads of ammunition to be of any use at all. It's taken nearly 60 years but we now have a rifle nearly as good as that excellent Lee Enfield Mk4 !!! That's how I see it.

The way I see it is if its the same bullet, accuracy is simply a measure of barrel length and skilled marksmanship. Its not rocket science. No amount of plastic furniture is going to imporove the basics of ballistic performance. the should introduce a 3m barrelled gun called the LALOL or LA1LOL with an emphasis on the LOL.

Really?

20 bullets in 20 seconds? 

Whats the point in that? I thought marksmanship was more like 1 bullet every 30 seconds taking time to think and judge the environment.

Maybe if they mounted the guns into huge concrete blocks they could reduce the kickback?

I pity all the soldiers in the past that have not had this life saving feature.

I think they should go a step further and introce rail mounted comfy chairs so soldiers and sit back and relaxed whilst unloading at bad boys a kilometer away. Maybe add a toaster feature so they can make toast in the field? Everyone likes toast.
