What to look for when buying deactivated rifles?

I'm interested in purchasing a Lee Enfield No4 Mk1*, however I don't know what I should be looking for and I don't want to get ripped off. If anyone has any tips about buying deactivated rifles (WW2) then that would be great. Thanks.
