Enfield 303 with no certificate
« on: September 17, 2012, 08:09:51 AM »
I bought it 15/20 years ago and have lost the certificate which I remeber was from the Birmingham proof house

I would like to sell it and can deliver pretty easily as I run a transport company

Do you think I would be better off getting it recertified?

probably.

last thing you want is to be arrested by an evil stassi death squad and found without VON PAPIERS SWINDHUND!!!! at 3.30am.

The problem is that i think the proof houses are a bit slow. they are also slow at working too. so you'd have to communicate with them, i think their lines are open between 11am and 3pm on every third Thursday. Then arrange for shipment of your FIREARM by armourded security carrier in case any old ladies get worried or concerned about the terrible plight of modern society what with men walk around with big long weapons and stuff, cant have that.

Then there will be the interogation, oops, sorry, the bit where you assist them with their investigations, more like assist them in their vain attempts to think in a straight line.

Then they'll consider all that for several months and ask you to send in your long weapon and you'll say you already did and so they'll have to do an internal investigation which might need your help to locate it.

Then stuff will happen and it will be returned in a matel barbie doll box with plastic window and little stickers and labels decrying that its conformed to several MI6 terrorsit checks and its all legit and then you can drive all the way to Birmingham to pick it up going around the back where no one will meet you because thats actually the court house and you knocked on the door saying your there to pick up the gun and you both laugh that laugh you laugh in such situations and go next door where they might have your item ready for you as long as its not gone 1pm as they all go home early on weeekdays and dont wo weekends etc.

As you can see, its no hassle at all getting a new certificate. Id never buy a gun without one as its possibly stolen.

Plus if you have the certificate and you loose it in a bank robbery or seige situation then it will be easier for the police to return it to you.
